The number of trademark applications in China has been the world's highest for 15 consecutive years (Mar-2017)
The State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC) announced at a press conference on March 22, 2017 that the number of applications for trademark registration filed in China in 2016 increased by 28.35% from the last year to 3.691 million and has been the world's highest for 15 consecutive years.
The awareness of globalization of Chinese corporate brands has been growing constantly. According to statistics from the State Administration for Industry and Commerce, as of the end of 2016, a total of 22.094 million trademark applications have been filed with a total of 14,509 million registrations and 12.376 million effective registrations, and the number of trademarks owned per 10,000 business operators in the market amounted to 1,422, an increase of 6.5% from 1,335 as of the end of 2015.
